Non-alcoholic Hot Drinks {Recipes}

 Wendys Warm Winter Wonderland Drinks!

The Holidays are winding down but not the Winter fun!  When gearing up for a fun New Years Eve of celebrating and watching fireworks outside, or just a Winter Sledding/Skating Snow Day, you will need something warm to drink!  These activities always find me surrounded by children and teenagers so non-alcoholic but tasty drinks are a must!  I share with you a few of my favorites!

Wendys HatHot & Spicy Grape Juice!
1 quart grape juice
1 quart cranberry juice cocktail
4 whole cloves
1 large cinnamon stick
3 whole allspice
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/3 cup white sugar
First place all ingredients in medium size saucepan and stir until well mixed.  Then cook over low heat until sugar is dissolved and then strain and serve in mugs.  Makes 10 mugs.  This can be made and kept in a crock pot for home or put in a hot thermos to go!

Sweet Caramel Milk by Wendys Hat
1 cup hot milk
2 Tablespoons dark brown sugar
Dash or two of vanilla extract
Combine all of the ingredients in a mug.  Stir and serve warm!  This recipe serves just one so it's just perfect to share a mug of it with the one you love {or make more}!!

 Wendys Hat*Hot Chocolate-French Style
3 squares unsweetened chocolate
3/4 cup water
3/4 cup sugar
pinch of salt
1/2 cup heavy cream, whipped
1 quart milk, heated but not boiled
Garnish: extra whipped cream, chocolate shavings, dash of nutmeg & cinnamon
First combine chocolate and water in a small saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until chocolate is melted.  Then add sugar and salt and boil just gently for 3 minutes, again stirring constantly.  Now remove from heat and fold in whipped cream.  Now put 1 Tablespoon of this chocolate mixture in each cup and add hot milk to fill and stir. {You can put the chocolate in mugs ahead of time while at home!}  Simple top with a spoonful {or smother with a huge blob!} of whipped cream.  Now add chocolate shavings and just a tiny sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg to top it all off!  This serves 6 lucky friends!

So whether you  serve up a pot at home.

Or pack a basket and blanket.

With your thermos or hot to go mug.

There's nothing quite like a warm drink on a cold day!

Whatever this New Years Eve, or snow day to come, has in store for you remember to-
Be SAFE!  Have FUN!  Stay WARM!
What will you drink for your cold weather fun?

  4. YUM!!! I'm actually going to try to give Matthew some of your Sweet Caramel Milk before bed to see if it will help him sleep better. He's having so much trouble getting to sleep, and then staying asleep - having nightmares too. I've heard warm milk is a good thing, and what would sound yummier to a teenager than SWEET warm milk - so comforting! :)
