Lilacs {Garden}

Lilacs and other Luscious shades of Lavender

I love lilacs!  I received one for Mothers Day many years ago {at my old house} so last year I finally got a new one for my current house.  Love it!  This Spring flower is so fragrant and beautiful to look at.  Here's a peek of it in my garden.  Most lilacs require a freeze during the Winter or they won't flower.  This variety is formulated to smell and look the same but grows well in my desert heat and doesn't require a freeze!  Perfect!

I love Spring {all of the delicate flowers I find bursting out of their Winter slumber} and waking up to warm sunny days once again!  I love cool Spring days when I can open my doors and windows and the gentle breeze brings a scent of Spring's perfumed flowers in the air.  Ah!  We made it through the Winter!

Love bringing a few branches inside to brighten up my day!  With the proper care {trimming bottoms and fresh water each day} these have lasted for two weeks now!

Enjoying a few new blooms on my Wisteria!  If you missed it you can read all about it here http://wendyshat.blogspot.com/2011/03/wisteria-garden.html

I walk around my garden on paths of all this lavender lovliness!  Carpets of flower petals!

My lavender colored Iris are blooming now!  I love to wake up and find that these little beauties have woken up as well!

The bare spots in my flower beds are filling up {in spots} with these sweet little lavender colored Vining Vincas!

But I think that my favorite flower in my gardens, on this most beautiful and perfect Spring Day, wasn't found IN the garden but OUT! This little flower {that I found growing in a crack in the street by my house} makes me smile!  She chose to "Bloom where she was planted"!  Love it!

P.S I feel bad for my friends that are still surviving the freezing temps and snow!  Spring is on it's way so get excited!  Have you seen any signs of Spring this week?

  1. I love all of these shades of purple you're sharing with us but most of all the love you're showing for your garden and flowers.
    I'm afraid I don't have the purple....oops....green fingers you have...

  2. Your lilacs are so beautiful! And I never knew there was a variety that was formulated to forego the winter freeze - I can have lilacs and I didn't even know! Yay! And by the way, that close-up pic you took - GORGEOUS!
