Peanut Butter Cookies {Recipe}

There is not much better than the smells that fill your home when a tasty treat is baking in the oven!  That's exactly what could be found in my kitchen yesterday!

I whipped up a batch of tried, true and very traditional old fashioned Peanut Butter Cookies {made from a recipe I've had in my files since I was a girl}.

They were fabulous, just as I remembered!

Then I brought out my "secret weapon" {that I had seen advertised this weekend}!  It is mini Reese's Peanut Butter Cups!  They are a lot smaller than the traditional or even small size and come unwrapped.

I prepared the cookie as before only added mini peanut butter cups to the top before baking.

This is what I ended up with.  The mini chocolate surprise really added a great dimension of taste and texture to my already fabulous cookies!  I played around and had great help in testing them and in the end the cookies with two mini Peanut Butter Cups won the taste test. {With the exception of the original Peanut Butter Cookies which  will always be a loved classic!}

These cookies would be another great item to bring on your next picnic !  Tomorrow I'm changing up another classic cookie.  Yum I'm hungry already!  Sure wish you all could come over for a taste!  What is your favorite cookie?  I really want to know!

Peanut Butter Cookie {recipe}

1 cup of softened butter
1 cup of smooth Peanut Butter
1 cup of packed brown sugar
1 cup of granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon of vanilla
 1 teaspoon of baking soda
3 1/2 cups of flour

 Cream together butter and Peanut Butter, then add and cream together brown sugar and granulated sugar.  Now beat in eggs, and vanilla and then baking soda.  Next I mix in flour and blend together very well.

Now roll dough into 1 1/2 inch balls and place a few inches apart on a greased cookie sheet.  Take a fork and press down on ball {in a criss-cross pattern}.  You will bake them in a 375 degree F oven for about 10 minutes.  Take out, cool on rack and then cover airtight to store.  Makes about 5 dozen .

  7. YUM! Well, I think thick, soft sugar cookies with a lot of frosting would have to be my all time favorite cookie, but it's rare I eat them and I *never* make them! :-0 I think perhaps the runner up would be a thick, flavorful snickerdoodle :)
