My close-up view of a life-size toy that stood 66 feet above the streets of Los Angeles! |
HOT WHEELS
At X Games this year I got to witness an awesome and record-breaking event! As a child, with three brothers, I played with many Hot Wheels in my time. I spent many thousands of hours building ramps such as this as well. So you can imagine how excited I was to turn the corner of a downtown Los Angeles street to find this life-size version of the very toys I played with, and from the look on their faces, so was every guy there at X Games! So why don't you take a look at what I saw that day.
After much anticipation, and to the delight of the crowds, everything took place as planned. |
At this part of the stunt I thought the car was going to drop. It felt like it was going in slow motion. |
How AWESOME to see these two cars on the loop together! |
At 52mph they experienced 7Gs going through the loop! Foust said, "I felt like I was in a toy". |
I loved this view of the tiny car hitting the jump after finishing the loop! |
If you didn't see it you can go here to the hotwheels . com EPIC video! They have an incredible video showing many angles of this stunt. There is a lot more information about the whole process there too.
Or you can watch my daughter's taping of it from our viewpoint that day.
Tanner Foust and Greg Tracy were the fearless drivers and signed autographs for all of us! |
Imagination, creativity and a lot of hard work can take people places that we only dreamed of as a child!
Would you ever have imagined that this would even be attempted, let alone actually work?
What do you think?
You always find the coolest things!! That actually looks kind of fun!
ReplyDeleteThat's so cool, Wendy! Great photos!
ReplyDeleteMy kis would have flipped over that! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWow! My kisd would have loved to see this! So fun!
ReplyDeleteI watched it on tv. I honestly thought it lacked something. It was probably much better in person. I guess I expected the cars to go faster or something. For me, the best part was at the end when the second car almost missed the jump.
