Day 22 in Wendys Winter Wonderland
Hi everyone! Day 22 in Wendys Winter Wonderland had a few surprises for me so I didn't have time to come through with my planned activity.
Sometimes a "White Christmas" comes in the form of clouds, so it is truly a Winter Wonderland today! I have read about crazy weather all over the world! Here in Las Vegas we have had solid rain for 5 days in a row with heavy rains for the last two days. This does make for a beautiful scene and we have been in a drought for so long that the rain is great, just too bad it all had to come down in a few days so hard. This unusual {for the desert} scene of fog and clouds have covered the hotels for two days now. Yesterday I drove by The Stratosphere and saw the rides on the top operating!
This heavy rain caused water to seep through the cement foundation and saturate the carpet in my dining room! I feel lucky as many people in the Western United States have had severe flooding and homes were lost and evacuated and a lot of damage done. Mine is minor and didn't even get my walls wet. Just a bump in my road! I packed up Christmas in this room {notice the bare tree} and prepared just in case things got worse and I needed to move furniture.
So here I took some pictures from my phone {fuzzy pics} before I took the room apart.
All dressed up for Christmas!
Red is the theme for the dining room tree in what we call "The Red Room"!
I guess we won't be having Christmas Eve Dinner in our dining room.
There is always next year to enjoy my dining room in all it's glorious red Christmas beauty!
So what has this Winter Wonderland brought to your part of the world? Hoping you stay warm and dry and safe!
OMG, What a weird thing to happen in your desertsurrounding. We did have our part of water too, but ours is frozen, in fact snow!! We had it early and we've been having it for almost a month now, which is unusual here too. We even had snow in november, even before Sinterklaas. Unprecedented!!! So in more places weird things happen as far as weather is concerned. Our snow is not over yet, last night we had more and today even more is expected.
ReplyDeleteToo bad your beautiful dinning room will stay empty, most probably. Besides the blowing you should put on the heating too, to get the draught out as soon as possible. I guess the problem was probably caused too because your soil has been so dry for a long time. This flood now comes into heavy for the soil to take up. But that won't help you I guess.
What a weird Christmas this may turn out. Maybe camping in your houses and we in ours, all because of water (in one shape or the other).
I hope you were able to get everything all cleaned up! What a terrible thing! And right before christmas... no fun! I hope there wasn't too much damage.
ReplyDeleteThanks girls for your concerns! Yes in the desert we can have extreme weather either way! I just turned off the blowers now. Since I caught it and started right away it didn't hurt anything! Just a huge inconvenience right before Christmas. Carpet looks great! I will clean it after Christmas now!
ReplyDeleteAw, what a BUMMER Wendy! But I just gotta say, your room was absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!!!! Loved the tree, and love the big red bows on the chairs!
