Nutella Desserts {Recipes}

Celebrating World Nutella Day in a big way today!  We have been searching for great recipes to make in honor of this occasion.  I have children that are addicted to this stuff and eat it everyday.  We were so busy eating and laughing that it has taken me hours to finish the pics!  Yummy!

Today was World Nutella Day and if you want to check out the Nutella website  and find out more about this creamy and dreamy treat.

Nutella spread was created in the 1940's by Mr. Pietro Ferrero, a pastry maker and founder of the Ferrero company.  At that time there was little chocolate because the cocoa was in short supply die to WWII rationing.  So Mr. Ferrero used hazelnuts, which were plentiful in the Piedmont region of Italy (northwest) to extend the chocolate supply.  Genius!

So my daughter, who eats Nutella everyday, couldn't wait and smothered a strawberry in Nutella and ate it straight away!  Doesn't this look delicious?

I took a mini muffin tin and chocolate for dipping fruit to make...

Little chocolate stands for our strawberries.

We cut the little tops off to reveal the hollow center...

then fill it up with Nutella!

What a darling and tasty little Valentines dessert!

We then used the leftover dipping chocolate and dipped some delicately delicious raspberries!
I find that when dipping these tiny treats it works best to put a spoon full of chocolate in a teaspoon and just swirl from there.

Easy to make a cute little tray of them for your Valentine!

Next we made these darling little mini tarts filled with Nutella and topped with raspberries then lightly dusted with powdered sugar!

My daughter and I are practicing our pie crust making skills lately {we have had issues} but this tart, with our homemade crust, passed her taste test!

So there you have some easy and tasty Nutella inspired treats for Valentines Day!

Friday night we went out to try a local authentic little Italian place nearby and had the most fabulous Nutella Pizza for dessert!  Homemade pizza dough {there's is the best I've ever had anywhere!} and topped with sliced bananas and warm Nutella and toasted almond slices and then dusted with powdered sugar!  Incredible!

Saturday, while down on the LV Strip doing homework for daughter's photography class which is always interesting,  we popped into our favorite chocolate spot and had crepes.  Of course mine was berries but Claire had her beloved Nutella crepe  She made her own at home last week too.  I tell you we have had Nutella on the brain in getting ready to celebrate World Nutella Day!  We found a great recipe for Nutella brownies that we will try next time.

We need to practice our chocolate dipping skills before we tackle this chocolate sculpture though.  Incredible isn't it!

As the night ran into morning, and we were still making treats and having fun and eating, we started to get delirious and Claire was looking through a drawer in the desk and found this funny little cut out pic of her from Elementary school.  We think it was form an art project for Christmas ornaments made in school!

I just noticed that the placement on the plate even gave her legs and the strawberry greens gave her hair!  Haha!

She makes a great tart don't you think?

So what will you try making, or eating, next year on World Nutella Day?  Do you have any plans to make a Valentines Day treat for yourself or someone special?  I want to hear all about it!  I'm off... to clean up the disaster in the kitchen and lick the crumbs up off the counter.  Yummy!

  4. How fun! I remember first having Nutella years ago when visiting my relatives in Italy. They eat it like we do peanut butter and jelly.

  6. You guys are simply NUTS over NUTELLA! And you have so much fun making things together :) I have never heard of Nutella pizza for desert but I know my boys would love that! I'm going to get some plain Trader Joe's pizza dough and give it a whirl!
