Chinese New Year 2011 {Tradition} The Year of the Rabbit

You all know my LOVE of visiting the seasonal flower displays found at The Bellagio Resort Conservatory in Las Vegas!  So I was happy to go and check out their Chinese New Year display this past weekend!

Especially since it's the Year of the Rabbit {and I'm a rabbit}!

I was not disappointed with the grand style that they had for display this year!  This Chinese Emperor stood at least 20 feet tall!

There were Chinese figures and symbols everywhere.  The little plaques at each garden area told of it's history or meaning.

I'm always overwhelmed {to say the least}!

The displays seem to take my breath away!

Like this boat that was full size in a pond! {I was running around so overwhelmed that now I forgot what most of the signs said in describing thing!}

Interesting TAI HU Stones.  I can't remember the meaning so I must research this again.  Maybe this warrants a return trip soon!

Great stone Chinese Lantern!  My mother has one of these by her pool!

My favorites were all of the darling little rabbits {unfortunately most of those pictures were a bit fuzzy}.  Don't you just love the different shades of pinks and red flowers?  I love that they have this display every year for Chinese New Year and it is still up for Valentines Day!  So fitting with red for both holiday!

This rabbit was a bit fuzzy but I will share it anyways!  Sweet!

I tried to get a picture of me with a rabbit for my year of the rabbit but the lighting is on the displays so this is hard!  Proof I was actually here though!

A partial view looking in, as I walk out the entry.

Another view from the back of the boat.  Looking in from the French chocolate shop! {We can never leave without a crepe!}

 While at Bellagio I had to pop over next door to the new Cosmopolitan Hotel found in City Center!

I'm sharing with you some views of their incredible crystals that swag and hang for about 3 levels through the middle of the hotel!

Incredible to see in person!

They have other incredible and unique lights in their lounge as well!

Hows that for draped drama?!

They just got an "All Saints Co. Ltd" store in the Mall at The Cosmopolitan Hotel and I had to snap a picture!  I am always in awe of their incredible window displays found in all of their stores!  This is what you see in all of their windows and this is just a small one! I've always wanted one of these walls with hundreds of vintage sewing machines!  I could stare at it all day {I wouldn't be a great clothing salesperson there! haha!}

I leave you with one last fun thought about Chinese New Years.  We went to a local Chinese Restaurant on the first day of Chinese New Years last week, to celebrate, and after our delicious meal we were each served a plate with three orange pieces on it!  An orange is a symbol of good luck!  So we are now set for this New Year!  What an easy and delicious treat it was and just what we needed!  Try it tonight!  What did you do to celebrate Chinese New Year?  I'm not Chinese but I love any excuse to celebrate something fun!

  3. I agree - those little bunnies were the cutest! But I'm still speechless over the three story long drapes upon drapes of crystals! I've never seen anything like that in my life!!!
