Valentines Day Buttons
I'm sharing a favorite Valentines treat of mine.
It's sure to fill you with cheer.
It's a visual delight. Best of all, it has zero calories!
Valentines treats come in all shapes and sizes, yes even in the form of a button!
I'm a button lover and have collected then since I was a child.
So of course I would have a Valentines Day Button Collection as well!
I have so enjoyed my large heart shaped bottle full of pink, red, white and heart shaped buttons.
I still get excited every time I see it, even after all of these years!
Many years ago I taught classes at two local quilt stores.
I would teach a few Valentines classes each year and many times gave Valentines surprises out.
All you need to do is find a bottle and some buttons and tie it up with a ribbon!
I have found these small glass heart shaped bottles at both a craft and fabric store, and also an import store.
Some are clear, like on the right and some are lightly tinted green, like on the left.
Fill up your jars with traditional Valentines colored buttons, or choose creamy shades.
Fill your jars with all red buttons or try layering red, pink and white!
Or mix it up and do a bottle full of bright colors.
Hearts buttons come in many colors.
I can promise you that the receiver of this jar full of buttons will not be complaining!
Now for the fun part!
Some ideas on using those fun Valentines buttons!
I know it is hard to part with them, so keep a jar just to look at and one that you can use!
Start with sewing a simple heart shaped button on a glove!
This is a great way to have some fun and for girls {or yourself} to learn how to actually sew a button on!
Warning! It is hard to stop at just one, so go ahead and have some fun!
Make a stretchy headband {or buy a ready made one} and sew on a row of buttons!
A favorite of my girls when they were young was sewing cute buttons onto socks!
They had fun with their friends and learned something too!
What little girl would not want to wear these to school on Valentines Day?!
Try sewing a collection of cute Valentines Buttons around the neckline of a t-shirt!
This set of socks and a t-shirt would make a great gift!
Here is one of my famous t-shirt dresses in bright heart fabric.
I made these for years when my girls were little.
I would often sew a simple heart shaped button at the top of the t-shirt part of the dress.
To make their Valentines Day Dress special one year, I used a pair of vintage pillowcases that had a darling embroidered heart design.
I cut them and made an apron sewn right onto the t-shirt dress.
I ended up with the sweetest matching Valentines dresses that two little girls have ever worn!
So now I want to know...what would you make with your Valentines buttons?

I LOVE these heart button containers! Beautiful! As to what I would do with them 1. Look at them - they're so pretty 2. glue some on cards 3. add a few to an embroidered pillow or one of the neat ideas you've already listed!
ReplyDeleteCute, Wendy!
