Heart Wreath {Valentines}

Cross-stitched Hearts

Valentines Day is a great excuse to make something with hearts!
I made this wreath especially for Valentines Day but it is so simple that it could be used year round as well.

I took simple cross stitch designs from a pattern book and stitched them.
This one that says "LOVE" is my favorite!

Then I made them into little heart shaped pillows.

Then I hot glued the tiny pillows onto a heart shaped willow wreath that I had lightly whitewashed.

Every great traditional embroidered sampler has an alphabet so I did one for my wreath too!

Each of my tiny heart pillows are different which adds to it's charm!

They are really rather simple designs so it really did not take too much time and effort to complete!
It's also a lot cuter than anything I could find in a store!

In keeping the color and designs simple and using all different colors,
this wreath is something that could be used year round and not simply for Valentines Day!

I finished the wreath off with a winding a white organza ribbon around the heart shape and then tying it off in a bow on the top.
This would look cute on my Valentines Red Front Door!
I actually used to hang this outside on my door many years ago but don't want it to age with the weather too much!

And now I choose to keep it on my teacup hutch for Valentines Day!

So there you have it, a Heart Shaped Valentines Day wreath done "Wendys Hat" style!
Do you hang up a special wreath on your door for Valentines Day?
I'd love to hear what special thing you do put out for Valentines Day!
