Hazelnut Waffles {Recipe}

My daughter loves brunch and wanted to come up with something new to eat.  So she read many recipes, adapted and created these delicious Hazelnut Waffles!  So yummy I just had to share!  You will love the flavor.

HAZELNUT WAFFLES

2/3 cup toasted hazelnuts
2 cups all purpose flour
2/3 cup cake flour
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 3/4 cups buttermilk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
4 eggs
1/3 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Grind your hazelnuts to fine with a food processor and 2 tablespoons of your flour. {they shouldn't have any skin on them and you should have toasted them}  Then in  a large bowl mix ground hazelnuts, both flours, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.  In another bowl mix buttermilk, oil, eggs, sugar and vanilla.  Then lightly mix the wet ingredients into the flour mixture until combined.  A few little lumps are ok.  Let the batter sit for at least 20 minutes in the fridge.  Now cook in your waffle iron.  Each one is different and cooks a bit different too.  I spray a vegetable oil cooking spray on my waffle iron first.  This recipe made about 6 1/2 cups of batter.

I love mine straight up served with butter and smothered in maple syrup!

Of course my daughter likes her waffles smothered with strawberries and raspberries and drizzled with Nutella and dusted with powdered sugar!  So tell me...what is your favorite type of waffles and what do you top them with?
