Hat Quilt {Sewing}

I'm in a "Hatty" mood!  I've recently enjoyed checking out both crazy and fabulous hats and pinning them on my visual online hat file at  Pinterest .  It started with the Royal Wedding, then Easter, and followed by the Kentucky Derby this weekend!  So I pulled a little trick out of my hat to share a little project I had from years gone by!

                                                             My Little Hat Quilt!

With cute little hats appliqued on by a simple satin stitch, then pieced and quilted by machine...

you will notice the fun little prairie point border for that three dimensional effect.

The scalloped edge also gives this Little Hat Quilt a bit of whimsy!

The darling hat fabric on the back adds a lot as well.  If I remember correctly this was a line of quilting fabric that Susan Branch designed many years ago.

Great place {under my shady tree} for a picnic, reading a great book, a nap, or just dreaming about all of those hats!

Just in time...Summer is on it's way!  What is your favorite thing to do with a fun and Summery Quilt?

  4. What a beautiful quilt - so cute with all those darling hats! I especially like the prairie points around the frame and scalloped edge.

    I can just imagine wrapping a child in that quilt, all snug and cozy on your lap, or having a picnic under a shade tree.
