Quilt of Many Colors {Sewing}

I have a weakness for flowers and all things bright and cheerful!  So when I picked up these bright and colorful flowers at the Market, I was reminded of a very colorful small quilt that I had made years ago.   Summer does that to a girl!

I was also reminded why so many wonderful and strong colors go together in a quilt... the simple laws of nature and how so many vivid colors can be tied together quite easily.  It's only natural!

The quilt is a large wall hanging and is made up of six large blocks, which are made up of four squares sewn together and

bordered by half square triangles and squares.

This quilt is an organized pattern made scrappy with many different colors of batik fabrics {which give it a watercolor feel} and adds even more color WOW to the colorful nature of this piece!

Because {just like in nature} everyone needs a little POP of color to fill the world with JOY!

The quilt is backed with a very icy but vivid teal fabric and the binding is a charcoal gray. which really offset the quilt fabrics rather well.  In scrappy quilts its better if things aren't a perfect match.  They just seem more natural that way!

I had it machine quilted with variegated colored thread to add a little bit more variety to the wall hanging, and really just to mix it up a bit!

I love to have circular patterns in the quilting when the blocks are so square.  This really adds a lot of movement to any quilt!

So there you have it... color in a flower... color in a quilt... brought around full circle on this beautiful Summer Day!  What has inspired you recently?  I'd really love to hear!
