It's Summer and we had a bit of time last week to have some fun! Do you have any Summer Traditions besides the usual holidays and vacations? Have you ever been to Color Me Mine {or something similar}? Mine is conveniently located nearby at The District at Green Valley Ranch {where you can eat, and play, watch a movie, and shop} and it's the perfect place to just relax for the day and paint!
It's a favorite local place where anyone can go and be creative! You pick your project and your paint and just have fun! We've made it a tradition for the Summer and Holidays as well. We have even had a few fun birthday parties {at another similar place} in the past! Summer is the best time to get started on a holiday present too!
So once we decided {that's the hardest part} we got to painting!
Of course you already knew mine had to be PINK!
With a flower... or two! Oh I'm having so much fun... it make me feel like a child again in art class!
It's fun {and sometimes hard while painting} to see how different the colors look before the pottery is glazed and fired in the kiln. But after 5-7 days we are always pleasantly surprised!
Everything is shiny and glossy and smooth now, and the colors have also brightened up!
I'm showing you close ups of my vase so you can see how imperfect my painting was.
No need to worry because in the end that doesn't even matter!
Now my newest flower vase is ready for some darling miniature button-like mums!
This is one sweet vase that I will keep for my collection!
Just look at how incredible Claire's Teapot-for-One turned out!
She did an excellent job at choosing her colors. Very creative in having the vines cover the whole teapot and even match up between layers! Her flowers were so sweet and she even dotted a cute little caterpillar on a vine! Creative! Now my other daughter wants to go back and make her own teapot {fine with me since I have something else already picked out}!
So there you have it! My creative view from underneath Wendys Hat today! What have you been up to this Summer? Have you ever painted pottery? If so what did you create? If not you really should try it {invite me to come along too}!
So fun! I am going with some of my friends on Saturday. I got a coupon to cover our sitting fees.
ReplyDelete*LOVE*LOVE*LOVE* Wendy, your vase is ADORABLE! It turned out so pretty - and how amazing that the colors are so muted when you paint with them and come out so bright and colorful! And Claire's tea pot too! You have definitely motivated me to try something new - we have a Color Me Mine just down the street!
ReplyDeleteI haven't done that in a long time. Maybe one of these days I'll post pictures of a couple of platters I painted years ago.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lot of fun! Both the vase and teapot turned out so pretty -- sure would be fun to try my hand at it some day!
ReplyDeleteWe have a Color Me Mine in our town and my daughter and I love it. We have done her birthday there too. Great fun!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pottery love girls!
ReplyDelete@Kristina - Lucky you! Sounds fun! I keep my eye out for those specials and coupons too.
