Alaskan Adventure

Three weeks ago life at our house changed once again.
My son Christopher found out that he was hired at a new job
and
we've been busy getting him ready ever since.

Not your typical job, but my son has never been typical.
He likes things that are EXTREME!

He is working for Icicle Seafoods.
This is one of the largest seafood companies.
Here is a Video Link telling about this work.

He will be working and living on a ship in the oceans of Alaska.
His ship is called RM Thorstenson , click to see a picture.

Since they are out on the ocean we have NO contact with him!
Occasionally they are in a port that has cell phone or internet access
but not very often.
He flew from Seattle to Anchorage to Dillingham, Alaska.
Last current ship position was heading towards Bristol Bay.
The ship was suppose to be processing herring but due to heavy ice,
they are going straight to salmon processing.

The expected return for this season is November 5, 2012.

I was lucky enough to go up to Seattle with him last week, as he had to sign papers.

Then on Friday June 15, 2012, from there,
Christopher
flew off to his wild adventure on the icy ocean!

Yes we are all following the Alaskan News
and
trying to track his ship on websites
and
following his local weather
and
so he can feel all of our good vibes coming to him from Las Vegas!

We are very proud of him and can't wait to hear all about it when he returns!

BE SURE TO
leave Christopher a message here and I'll get it to him when I hear from him.

  2. Oh, so great to read about it from your point of view. Ofcourse I followed him getting ready through his fb account. Yes, this is def a job for him. Hope he will have the time of his life out there. And come back with great stories. It'll be a long time till november.

If he gets an opportunity to phone tell him I wish him good luck up there and take lots of xtreme pics to share afterwards. Hey, he may even run into his future wife up there (or am I drifing to far off now :-)) In the meantime take care dear. Miss you. A friend of mine is leaving for the States tomorrow. Believe me, that brings back good memories. You spoilt me to death and I am still not over it. U got me hitched to Vegas and your wonderful family.
    Hugs,
    Monique
