Simple Scalloped Potatoes
I love baking and cooking things in my oven during the Winter! It seems to fill my kitchen and my soul with warmth. Everyone has their own unique way of making Scalloped Potatoes and today I am sharing mine. Simple enough that my kids like them and so easy that I can make them anytime.
You will need:
Baking dish of your choice {size depends on how much you need}
Potatoes {3-5 depends on how much you need again plus the size of your potatoes!}
Sharp Cheddar Cheese {1 lb. brick or more depending on how much you are making}
Milk 1 to 2 cups {depending on how much you are making}
Garlic Salt, Paprika, Ground Pepper for seasoning
I simply peel and slice my potatoes then...
I place them in my baking dish in layers. I start by layering them in a single layer on bottom of dish and then a single layer of grated cheese, then another single layer of potatoes and another single layer of cheese and on and on... ending with cheese!
Then I pour milk in dish. I just pour in one corner near the edge and it runs underneath the potatoes in the whole pan. Enough to cover at least 1 inch deep. {We like ours soft but crunchy on top so that is my reason for not putting a lot.} Then I season well. {My kids fight over this crunchy seasoned part!}
Cover your potatoes and bake for 2 hours at 350 degrees F.
When finished the top will be crunchy and edges of pan browned and the potatoes will be soft underneath!
Now all you need to do is serve and eat! We had this for Christmas Eve dinner this year paired with green beans and ham.
I know that many people make theirs with cream or even canned creamy soup. What type of scalloped potatoes do you usually make?
Wendy - is it just me??? Every time I click on your blogspot address, it only shows your banner photo and your LinkWithin photos!!! Even though it may say "scalloped potatoes" at the top, there is no post in between :/ Let me know if it's just me or if something went screwy!!!
