Valentines Candy Dish {DIY}

I've been out of town this week, and too busy to work on my new Valentines projects.  So today, while I was home for a moment, I went looking for some of my favorite things to bring some "Heartfelt Valentines Love" to my home.  I ran across this heart shaped Valentines candy dish that I made years ago.

I made it at one of those paint your own pottery shops that you find around town.  I used to have parties there all of the time when my girls were young.  So much fun!  Anyways...I painted it with very simple hearts and dots and did a black and white check on the very edge.  I finished the bowl with a very pale pink wash over the rest of it.

It wasn't until they finished firing it, and I brought it home, that I realized that most of the outside was rather plain {even though it was washed in a light pink paint}.  Oh well, this has always been my reason for wanting  new one!  If I wasn't busy and gone this week I would be making another.

It still does the job of holding my most important treats on Valentines Day! I also look at this simple and sweet bowl and am reminded of priceless memories of painting with my children all of those years!  So have you ever thought of going to a pottery store and painting yourself a treat?  If so what would you make?  I think that Valentines would be the perfect time!

  1. Very cute! We've been taking the kids I work with to COlor Me Mine. I really have no artistic talent so it's a challenge!
