It's that time again! Last year our family started a fun new Holiday Tradition! Remember? Well this year we participated in our second year!
My two "Superstar Runners" were ready to go and up at the front of the pack to start because of their talents and fast running times!
My "Superstar Photographer and Cheerleader" was there with her darling furry earmuffs to help us along the way and take some great pics! We couldn't do it without her support!
We even added a new runner to the pack this year with the Famous Mr. C joining me on the run! He has trained all year and was in super shape, but being the Perfect/Super Guy that he is... stayed behind and ran with me the whole time!
This year Rock n Roll Marathon Sponsors had the event at night which added a cool effect with running and seeing the lights at night! This made it the Largest Night Time Marathon! Running down The Strip at night was really cool in person...
but made it hard to get tons of fun pics like I did last year! I did still run with my trusty point&shoot Canon camera and snapped it a few times!
Happy that The Birthday Girl would stand by me long enough for a picture! My kids were questioning my marathon wardrobe choice but I don't EVEN care! Girls Just Wanna Have Fun don't they?! {I was noticed in the crowd and heard from many friends that spotted me on TV because of it!}
So once we took pictures, waited around, tried to stay warm, and fought the huge crowds {yes with the marathon adding so many people and changing it to night the crowds were CRAZY and there were many problems this year because of it ~ which I'm sure they will learn from and change before next year}...
we made our way to the starting line and were off!
I love the way you can actually feel the River of Runners in this great picture taken by Chelsea!
A few highlights for me were running past Bellagio when the fountains were going off and ...
running past the famous tradition of the Vegas Marathon Run-thru Wedding {located in front of the volcanoes this year}!
Christopher was a champion and finished in 2 hours even though he didn't get the QUICK time he usually does he did great for pulling something in his knee and having to walk for a while.
Claire amazes me for being so quick and dedicated even though she is tiny and young.
Well even though I haven't trained or even run in 6 months and have had severe allergies/asthma for 3 months and am still recovering from a respiratory infection from 4 weeks ago, I crossed that finish line. I would have walked if I had to but I managed getting through in 3 hours by jogging and racewalking! Not bad for an "Old Lady"!
So watch out Vegas because I'll be back! So... what is your craziest tradition? I really want to hear!
I hate running, but that actually looks fun!
ReplyDeleteIt's already been a year? I remember your post from this last year right after I met you.
ReplyDeleteWe have some clients in town that ran in that race too...and then they came down here to hike for a week. Crazy.
We don't have any extreme traditions like that around here!
thanks girls! I really don't like running either but do it for the family! I know... where did the year go?!
ReplyDeleteNow THAT looks like a funny way of running. I bet they spotted you even in that crowd. For someone not liking running you certainly did your best to stand out. The kids should be proud at such a mum!!!!
